Role Overview
The Kids Pastor will be responsible for leading and developing the Newsong Church Kids Ministry, ensuring a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for children. This role focuses on equipping children to grow in their faith, fostering meaningful relationships with families, and managing volunteers effectively. The Kids Pastor will work collaboratively with church leadership to align the children’s ministry with the broader mission and values of Newsong Church.
Key Responsibilities
Discipleship and Teaching
- Develop or adopt Biblically sound and age-appropriate curriculum to inspire spiritual growth in children.
- Lead engaging, Christ-centered activities, lessons, and worship experiences during weekly services and special events.
- Encourage and equip children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.
Leadership and Team Building
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support children’s ministry operations.
- Ensure all volunteers complete background checks and adhere to safety protocols.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment through regular communication, training sessions, and team-building activities.
Programs and Events
- Plan and execute major holiday and seasonal events such as Fall Festivals, Back-to-School events, and Kids Camp.
- Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, safety measures, and volunteer assignments, for all events and programs.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for children and team members during all activities.
Family and Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents, keeping them informed and engaged through consistent communication.
- Develop outreach initiatives to welcome new families and connect them to the church community.
- Serve as a spiritual resource for families, providing guidance and support as needed.
Administration and Budget Management
- Utilize church-approved digital tools for effective scheduling, communication, and planning.
- Manage the kids ministry budget responsibly, ensuring alignment with ministry goals and maximizing impact.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to church leadership, including monthly one-on-one meetings with the Director of Ministry.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Minimum
- 4 years in kids' ministry leadership (volunteer or paid).
- Clear calling to children’s ministry.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- Degree in ministry-related fields; interns are welcome to apply.
- Experience with Planning Center, Gloo, and ProPresenter.
Personal and Professional Requirements
- Pass two levels of background checks with no criminal history.
- Provide pastoral references for all churches served in the past four years.
- Agree with the Assemblies of God’s 16 Fundamental Truths and commit to pursuing credentials if not already certified.
- Patience, kindness, and a heart for ministry.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
Compensation and Schedule
- Starting pay is $32,000/year (paid hourly), but the compensation package can be adjusted to reflect the candidate's experience and qualifications.
- 40 hours per week.
- Two (2) weeks of paid vacation annually.
Anticipated Weekly Schedule
- Sunday: 7:00 am–1:00 pm
- Tuesday - Friday: 9:00 am–6:00 pm (with a one-hour lunch break)
- Monday: Sabbath/Day off
