Social Content Assistant (Part-Time)
Wooden Spoon Herbs — Bay Area, CA hybrid; remote work considered
About Wooden Spoon Herbs
Wooden Spoon Herbs (WSH) makes vibrant, garden-grown herbal formulas for everyday wellness. Rooted in traditional folk herbalism, we create products and content that help people feel more connected—to their bodies, their communities, and the natural world. We’re a small but mighty team, and we care deeply about storytelling, plants, and integrity in all we do.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented Social Content Assistant to support Lauren Haynes, the Wooden Spoon Herbs Founder, in producing founder-led content across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and emerging platforms. This role is ideal for someone who is visually intuitive, organized, excited about herbs, and naturally tuned into translating a brand world to thoughtful daily content.
You’ll work closely with Lauren and our team to capture and edit content, brainstorm ideas, support shoot days, post on social platforms, respond to messages, help nurture community relationships, and keep the social universe running smoothly.
Location
Ideally based in the Bay Area, CA for hybrid work including weekly in-person filming and production support with Lauren. Exceptional candidates outside the Bay Area may be considered.
If Bay Area-based, reliable transportation is required for local shoots at Lauren’s home, office, herb gardens, and occasional field locations.
Details
- Part-time: ~10-15 hours/week
- Location: Bay Area hybrid preferred; remote option for strong candidates
- Compensation: $22-$28/hour (DOE)
- Start Date: Immediate hire (December 2025-January 2026)
Responsibilities – Content Capture & Creation
- Assist in filming Reels/TikToks and capturing photo/video content at Lauren’s home, the office, local herb gardens, and occasional field locations.
- Edit short-form videos with a preference for natural light, clean storytelling, and WSH’s warm, folk-herbal aesthetic.
- Create mood boards, pinboards, and simple graphics to support campaigns and launches.
Responsibilities – Social Support
- Maintain and organize content libraries, Dropbox/Drive folders, and weekly content calendars.
- Track trends in post formats and platform shifts through a WSH lens (timeless, not overly trendy).
- Support live content days, including behind-the-scenes coverage, event documentation, small shoots, and garden days.
- Collaborate on shaping the WSH social look and feel, including visuals, tone, and caption style.
- Suggest content themes, seasonal campaigns, and timely social moments that capture WSH’s mission and signature aesthetic.
- Drive content planning by reviewing drafts, proposing improvements, and ensuring brand consistency across all posts.
Responsibilities – Brand & Herbalism
- Understand and uphold WSH’s brand voice, aesthetic, and herbal values.
- Use (or be willing to learn) basic herbal knowledge to ensure accurate, grounded content.
- Bring authentic excitement about plants, gardens, and traditional herbalism—even if you’re early in your learning.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in content creation, visual storytelling, and lifestyle/editorial aesthetics.
- Experience creating Reels/TikToks for yourself or a brand; portfolio links appreciated.
- Proficiency with CapCut, VSCO, Lightroom, or similar editing tools.
- Organized, proactive, and able to communicate clearly and kindly.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Herbalism knowledge is a major plus.
