The Ethnic Studies Department and La Raza Studies program at Contra Costa Community College are accepting applications for an Adjunct Faculty (part time). This is a temporary assignment that begins March 2026.
Our department offers various courses in La Raza Studies, including History of Latinos in the United States, Latino Politics, Latin American History, Latino Film.The teaching assignment will mainly include transfer-level composition as well as supporting the department and college in incorporating a culturally responsive curriculum. The assignment may also include working with learning communities that support African American students, Latinx students, or other groups.
The student population of Contra Costa College (CCC) reflects its surrounding diverse communities. Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
EDUCATION: Ethnic StudiesMaster's in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, or American Indian Studies OR Master's in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent

Ideal candidates will possess extraordinary interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, a passion for teaching, and the ability to effectively communicate with students to help them achieve their educational goals.
• College level teaching or similar community education experience.• Significant graduate level course work in Chicano/a/x and Latino/a/x Studies and Ethnic Studies.• Competency in teaching US Latino history and politics.
