Child Care Nutrition Director
GENERAL FUNCTION: The Child Care Nutrition Program Director is responsible for overall coordination, management, implementation, and evaluation of the child care branch food service and nutrition program. In addition, this Program Director serves as the director on duty for the school age latchkey department during the morning session, is part of the school age leadership team, and serves as a hiring manager for the Child Care Branch. Primary areas of responsibility include grant compliance for federal Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), budget development and fiscal management, financial development (fundraising), staff recruitment and training and compliance with all childcare regulations.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; HS Diploma required
- Experience working with youth, youth serving organizations and/or in the nutrition field
- Minimum 6 months of management and supervisory experience required

- Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch, including adjusting regular hours to accommodate site inspections and coaching staff, and some evenings and weekends required for staff training and team meetings.
- Seek-out opportunities for growth, innovations in service delivery, program offerings and fund development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Child Care Nutrition Program Director is responsible for implementing Association policies and procedures, growing programs to meet the needs of families in our service delivery areas and support to both early learning and school age programs in multiple locations and partner sites. The follow outlines the key areas of responsibility and task:
Staff Development:
- Develop and promote a participant-focused culture among staff based on relationship building, active listening and service above self.
- Ensure that all Association personnel policies and procedures are adhered to within the program sites.
- Develop and facilitate annual, new hire, as required and to support front line staff in implementation and compliance
- Provide onsite management throughout the year at multiple locations.
- Develop, train and evaluate staff on quality curriculum and instructional practices.
- Oversee and provide support in hiring and training of new staff.
Program Operations:
- Be available during the hours of AM latchkey sessions to provide support, fill in at sites and assist program site managers with any emergency needs,
- Facilitate program audits to ensure quality, safety, and positive food service experiences for children and youth.
- Ensure that each program meets and or exceeds CACFP grant requirements and licensing standards.
- Develop and maintain contacts with community partners to promote and further opportunities for youth.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere that values diversity and inclusion.
- Be accessible to staff and program participants.
- Share resources and information with staff, children, and families to enrich healthy eating habits and positively influence the health of students
Federal Food Program (CACFP):
- Coordinate and conduct all activities related to monitoring functions of the branch programs participating in the Child & Adult Care Food Program.
- Complete and submit annual CACFP re-certification applications
- Prepare and submit all required reports and on-time monthly claims in Federal data system
- Review all enrollment data and income eligibility documents for accuracy and completeness addressing any issue with the department directors and/
- Update CACFP Provider Manual and Procedures Manual
- Oversee the annual CACFP review and audit and provide information as required
- Provide on-site program monitoring, training and technical assistance as needed for CACFP participating sites within the Branch.
Fiscal Management:
- Accountable for annual budget development, monthly budget monitoring and achievement of food service budget.
- Maintain and be thoroughly knowledgeable with systems of financial control including revenues, expenses, and inventories.
Financial Development/ Strong Community Campaign:
- Develop new ideas and income strategies.
- Engage, lead and support staff in accomplishing their respective donor and volunteer recruitment, development and giving to achieve goals for the Strong Community campaign.
- Participate in stewardship of current donors and actively recruit new donors to meet campaign goals.
- Achieve continued retention and growth in donor giving.
General:

- Ensure Association goals and strategies are adhered to and effectively communicated to staff and volunteers.
- Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
- Monitor and manage systems, drills and training related to risk management and safety for participants and employees.

- Participate in association-wide projects when needed.
