Substance Abuse Stabilizer

The Substance Abuse Stabilizer is a frontline support specialist dedicated to helping individuals navigate recovery, reduce relapse risk, and stabilize their mental, emotional, and behavioral health through innovative, purpose-driven interventions. This role supports clients, families, members, and partnering mental health agencies by offering structured guidance, crisis stabilization, recovery planning, and access to Melanin Valley’s full ecosystem of services, resources, and staffing pipelines.


 

The Substance Abuse Stabilizer plays a critical part in early intervention, ongoing recovery support, and empowering clients to rebuild their lives with dignity, community, and long-term sustainability.


 


 


 


 

Key Responsibilities


 


 

  • Provide stabilization support to individuals struggling with substance use challenges, ensuring safety, consistency, and compassionate care.
  • Conduct wellness check-ins, early intervention assessments, and individualized stabilization plans.
  • Support clients in connecting with treatment programs, crisis services, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Facilitate access to Melanin Valley’s holistic supports, including streaming-based therapeutic engagement, skill-building pathways, and peer-driven accountability models.
  • Work with mental health agencies to identify staffing needs, stabilize caseloads, and enhance service delivery.
  • Participate in coordinated care with QMHPs, therapists, agency leads, and crisis teams to ensure a unified support plan.
  • Document client progress, stabilization milestones, and intervention outcomes in alignment with agency protocols.
  • Assist clients with relapse prevention strategies, coping skills, motivation building, and community reintegration.
  • Support family members and caregivers with education, resources, and stabilization guidance.
  • Maintain a commitment to confidentiality, cultural humility, and strength-based care.
