Hours: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week (flexible around class schedule)
Compensation: Unpaid, academic credit eligible
About People's Voice
People's Voice is a Miami-based media technology startup that connects citizens directly with journalists and content creators. Our platform allows users to submit and fund questions they want asked to politicians, public figures, athletes, and CEOs. We're building a new model for accountability journalism and creator-driven content.
About the Internship
This internship is designed to provide hands-on learning in business development, professional communication, and startup operations. You will learn how to identify potential partners, craft compelling outreach messages, build professional relationships, and contribute to the growth strategy of an early-stage company.
This is not a passive internship. You will be actively involved in real business development efforts, receive direct mentorship, and gain skills that transfer directly to careers in marketing, sales, communications, public relations, and entrepreneurship.
This is a fully on-site position at our Miami office. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this internship, you will be able to:
- Research and identify potential partners and content-creators, reporters, and journalists, and more using professional tools and strategies
- Write professional outreach emails and direct messages that generate responses
- Understand the fundamentals of a two-sided marketplace and how to grow both supply and demand
- Manage a pipeline of outreach contacts using CRM tools or spreadsheets
- Communicate professionally with journalists, content creators, and media professionals
- Analyze outreach performance and iterate on messaging based on results
- Understand startup operations, including prioritization, fast iteration, and resource constraints
Responsibilities
- Research and identify politicians, journalists, reporters, content creators, and more who may be interested in joining the platform
- Draft and send personalized outreach messages via email and social media direct messages
- Track all outreach activity and responses in a shared system
- Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress, share learnings, and receive feedback
- Collaborate with the supervisor to refine messaging and outreach strategies based on response data
- Learn about the media industry, creator economy, and the role of technology platforms in modern journalism
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled at or graduated from a college or university in the Miami area
- Strong written communication skills
- Interest in media, journalism, marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, or content-creation
- Self-motivated and comfortable with independent work
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
- Able to commute to our Miami office for all scheduled work hours
Preferred but not required:
- Previous coursework in marketing, communications, journalism, or business
- Experience with email outreach or customer-facing communication
- Interest in startups and technology
Supervision & Mentorship
Interns will report directly to William Michael Permuy, CEO & Founder of People's Voice. You will receive:
- Onboarding and training during your first week
- Weekly one-on-one check-ins to discuss progress, challenges, and professional development
- Real-time feedback on outreach messages and strategies
- Exposure to all aspects of running an early-stage startup

Academic Credit
This internship is designed to complement coursework in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, and business. If your school offers academic credit for internships, we are happy to work with your academic advisor to ensure the internship meets your program's requirements.
