Long Term Substitute Teacher - Chemistry (grades 10-12)
In the absence of the regular teacher, the long-term substitute teacher is responsible for teaching a full load of Upper Learning Chemistry classes.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Teach five sections of Chemistry courses in Upper Learning including AP Chemistry.
- Deliver curriculum, assign related coursework, track student performance; evaluate student progress (written evaluation - academic updates & progress reports and conferences)
- Maintain safe storage of chemicals and lab equipment.
- Educate students on lab safety and ensure all experiments are carried out responsibly.
- Deliver thorough and timely feedback to students for assessments.
- Demonstrate flexibility regarding curriculum decisions to meet the instructional needs
- Guide learning according to the lesson plans.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group help to students during tutorial (twice weekly)
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement.
- Serve as a co-advisor to an assigned group of students.
- Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade-level, and department meetings.
- Familiarize oneself with school procedures and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as directed by principal or assistant principal.
- Embody and advocate for the mission and vision of the school.
- Demonstrates good judgment in the supervision of students.
- Maintains punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to incorporate technology in daily tasks.
- Two or more years teaching science or chemistry in a high school setting.
- Experience conducting lab experiments with students.
- Familiarity with AP curriculum and delivery.
Education:
- Bachelors degree required
