Research Assistant
The Miller lab seeks to understand the mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative diseases, using a combination of neuropathological, single-cell, genomics, and biochemical approaches. One major scientific focus is on the causes and impact of somatic mutations in brain cells in neurodegeneration.
Located in Harvard Medical School Longwood Campus, we are based at the Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pathology, and are affiliated with the BWH Neurotechnology Studio and the Broad Institute.
We are looking for promising students who are interested in joining the Miller lab in Boston as a full-time research assistant before going on to a PhD, MD, or MD-PhD program. We use single-cell biology, genomics, biochemistry, and bioinformatics approaches, and lab members will have the opportunity to learn disease biology with Dr. Miller and other physician collaborators. Qualified students will have an outstanding scholastic record, prior research experience, and will graduate from a Bachelor’s degree program this academic year (no Master's or post-college years). This position requires a two-year commitment. This position is primarily lab-based, with some opportunities to develop computational skills.
Interested students can find more information on our website: www.mbmillerlab.org. We participate in the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award program, as one exciting direction we are taking for single-cell biology.
In your application, please include a resume, transcript, names and contact information for three references. Please also include a cover letter describing your previous research and lab experience, technical and administrative skills, your career goals, and how our lab aligns with your interests.
