Propulsion and Energetics Intern
Physical Sciences Inc., headquartered north of Boston in Andover, MA, is looking for well-qualified students interested in a Summer 2026 full-time internship with our Propulsion and Energetics group. The intern will spend considerable time at our test facility in Epping, NH. The Propulsion and Energetics group conducts research, development, and testing of solid and liquid rocket propulsion systems, energetic materials, high-pressure plumbing systems, and propulsion control systems. Interns will have the ability to gain real-world experience on important projects, working directly with members of our group to build, instrument, and operate high-pressure test stands, design hot-fired components, and model our systems.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Component modeling and design
- Generating engineering drawings for machine shop quotes
- Test stand design and construction for:
- Solid/Liquid/Air-breathing propulsion systems
- High pressure plumbing
- Propulsion and other system test stand operations (in teams with other engineers)
- Computer modeling of systems
- And more!
Preferred Skills:
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred)
- Knowledge of engineering programming (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Aptitude with basic practical electronics (soldering, wiring, etc.)
- General hands-on engineering knowledge/experience
Other Requirements:
- Must be Sophomore, Junior or Senior
- Must have some prior hands-on experience (research, previous internships, related extra-curricular activities, etc.)
Hourly Wage Range : $20-$35
