LTE Fisheries Technician
Position Summary
This position is responsible for a broad range of technical support duties for the fisheries management program. This position will feed fish, monitor feeding activities, clean tanks, raceways, and ponds, assist with distribution activities, follow bio-security protocols, conduct outreach, and assist with maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment.
60% Independently feed fish, fill and adjust feeders, monitor feeding activities. Clean tanks, raceways, and ponds. Observes behavior and monitor for diseases and water quality. Assist with seining moving and sorting fish between ponds.
25% Maintain buildings, grounds and equipment as directed.
10% Assist in seining and loading fish for distribution. Drive distribution truck to stocking location. Temper fish and release to stream/lake.
5% Assist in spawning and hatching of eggs, egg picking, fry clean up and distribution to start tanks.
Salary Information
This position pays $19.66 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 06-12. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

Special Requirements:
1) Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
A Wisconsin resident is a person who:
a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;
b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;
c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
d. Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).” s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.

Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications below, the selected candidates must be eligible to drive a state vehicle and meet the following criteria:
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience
• Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
• Have no OWI/DUI violations within the past year
Required:
• Ability to and willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to work weekend, evening and holiday work hours
• Experience operating trucks, pumps, mowers, string trimmers, snow blowers and hand tools
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
Preferred:
• Knowledge in fish culture techniques
• Experience in facility maintenance and repair
