Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Inpatient Diabetes Management (Training Provided)
ABOUT GLYCARE
GlyCare is a hospital-based group practice specializing in inpatient diabetes and glycemic management. Under the direction of our Medical Director, GlyCare Nurse Practitioners deliver high-quality, evidence-based, protocol-driven care to hospitalized adults in non-ICU settings.
As a GlyCare-employed NP or PA practicing under consulting privileges, you’ll combine independent patient management with a strong commitment to quality improvement, teamwork, and adherence GlyCare standards of care — improving outcomes across the hospitalized population.

POSITION DETAILS
Schedule Types:
- Full-Time: Mon/Tue/Wed + every other weekend OR Wed/Thu/Fri + opposite weekends (~52 fewer shifts/year vs. M–F jobs).
- Part-Time: Mon/Tue + every other weekend OR Thu/Fri + opposite weekends (~12 shifts/month, full benefits included)
Compensation:
- Base Pay: $62–$72/hour, commensurate with inpatient hospital practice experience, education, and qualifications.
- $3,000 Sign-On Bonus available for qualified candidates with at least one year of diabetes or endocrinology experience as a Nurse Practitioner, or recent hospitalist experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

What You’ll Do
- Provide consultative inpatient diabetes/glycemic management (non-ICU).
- Manage a daily census of ~20–25 patients (higher census 28–30).
- Independently round using validated protocols with endocrinology oversight.
- Rotate after-hours call coverage (phone only, no return to facility).
- Engage in ongoing professional development via GlyCare University.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in TX (FNP, AGNP, or ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Completed in-person clinical training hours.
- Previous inpatient nursing (for NPs) or inpatient/acute care experience (for PAs) required.
- Recent experience practicing as an NP/PA in a hospital (preferred)
- Medicare provider number preferred (not required).
- Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and ability to work independently within protocols.
- EMR proficiency (Epic or similar) with ability to learn quickly.
- Minimum 1-year contract commitment, with automatic renewal.
Professional Standards & Expectations
As part of GlyCare’s hospital-based group practice, APPs are expected to:
- Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care in alignment with GlyCare protocols.
- Strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Reliability with schedules, weekend/holiday coverage, and call rotations — continuity of inpatient care is essential.
- Participation in required training, chart reviews, and quality assurance activities through GlyCare University.
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, maintaining professional communication and responsiveness (e.g., timely follow-up on patient care and chart reviews).
- Flexibility to assist colleagues or cover other facilities if needed to maintain patient safety.
