Right Track Scholar

Are you ready to take your first big step toward a rewarding career? The City of Saint Paul is excited to introduce the Right Track Scholars Program, an incredible opportunity for young people to gain real-world work experience, develop critical professional skills, and help shape the future of public service in our community. This 10-week paid internship program offers hands-on experience in the public sector while connecting participants to a cohort of like-minded peers and transformative training opportunities.

What you can expect to do as a Right Track Scholar:

  1. Contribute to high-level projects within a City of Saint Paul or Ramsey County department.
  2. Build essential workplace skills such as communication, equity and inclusion practices, and public speaking.
  3. Participate in weekly professional development sessions with a supportive peer cohort.
  4. Explore diverse career pathways in public service and expand your professional network.
  5. Earn a competitive wage while gaining hands-on experience in a meaningful role.

Right Track Scholars Program Details:

  • Duration: June 1 – August 7, 2026 (10 weeks)
  • Schedule: 38 hours/week, Monday–Friday (8:00 am–5:30 pm), with some evening/weekend opportunities depending on placement.
  • Compensation: $20/hour
  • Structure:
    • Weekly professional development sessions focused on skill-building.
    • A kickoff event to start your journey and celebrate your role as a Right Track Scholar.
    • Placements assigned by the Right Track Team in various city or county departments.

Position Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old and no older than 24 years old by June 1, 2025.
  • Must be enrolled and have completed one year in a post-secondary institution by June 1, 2025.
  • Must live in Ramsey County.
  • Meet household income criteria OR have a barrier to employment
