Frontend Engineering Intern

About NovaChat:

NovaChat is an early-stage AI startup building next-generation messaging tools for online creators. We help creators scale their digital businesses by improving how they communicate, automate workflows, and engage with their audiences. We're a small, fast-paced team where interns get real responsibility and ship production work that impacts users immediately.

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineering Intern who enjoys building clean, intuitive interfaces and wants to gain real-world software experience. You will work directly with our engineering team to:

  • Improve our user dashboard and web application
  • Fix UI/UX bugs and inconsistencies
  • Polish layouts, spacing, component styling, and responsiveness
  • Build and refine small components
  • Improve onboarding flow and user experience
  • Help implement design updates across the platform

This is a hands-on internship where your work will be used by real users — not throwaway projects.

Technologies You’ll Use:

  • React
  • Next.js
  • Tailwind CSS
  • GitHub (PR workflow)
  • Vercel

Basic familiarity with React is enough, we will support you in everything else.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Startup experience in a fast-moving engineering team
  • Portfolio-ready product work (not just school projects)
  • Mentorship and guidance on modern development practices
  • Experience shipping code to a live production environment
  • A strong reference and potential long-term opportunity

Ideal Candidate:

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Care about clean UI and good design
  • Enjoy solving front-end problems
  • Are comfortable with React
  • Communicate clearly and take initiative
  • Want meaningful experience working on a real product
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Comfortable with React fundamentals
  • Familiar with Git/GitHub
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to commit 10–15 hours/week

Compensation:

  • Unpaid internship initially
  • Opportunity to move into a paid part-time or full-time role based on performance
  • Flexible hours
  • Fully remote

How to Apply:

  • Submit through Handshake:
  • Resume
  • Any GitHub links, projects, or portfolio (optional but recommended)
