WORK SCHEDULE: 10-month
PAY GRADE: Teacher scale
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: None FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1. Bachelor’s Degree from an approved teacher preparation program in agriculture education 2. Teaching experience preferred. 3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
JOB GOAL: The selected candidate will use and evaluate instructional materials and resources, including technology that support the curriculum of Agricultural Science Education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Essential duties must be performed on site. 1. Demonstrates an accurate knowledge of agriculture and effectively addresses appropriate CTE VDOE curriculum standards. 2. Develops in each student awareness and understanding of basic skills, knowledge, and resources applicable to the hair industry. 3. Maintains an active leadership student organization, FFA. Instills in each student effective, safe working habits, the importance of continuation of his/her education, and the development of successful work ethics. 4. Humanizes instruction by planning a program of study that meets the individual needs of students 5. Plans purposeful assignments for student teachers, aides, and substitute teachers 6. Assists in the evaluation, selection, and requisition of books, equipment, audio-visuals, and other supplementary materials 7. Implements all curriculum programs adopted system wide in a positive and efficient manner 8. Participates in curriculum development appropriate to assignment 9. Establishes clear objectives for all learning experiences and communicates these objectives to students 10. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with students 11. Provides and maintains student progress or assessment through data 12. Speaks clearly using fluent and appropriate language in well-modulated tones 13. Ensures proper setup and storage of program resources 14. Promptly and accurately handles routine matters involving reports, records and moneys 15. Takes all necessary precautions to protect and to maintain facilities, equipment, and materials 16. Returns materials to their assigned place or designated personnel promptly after use 17. Emphasizes and enforces safety factors within the classroom, building, and throughout school property 18. As an extension of classroom management responsibilities supervises students throughout the school as assigned, or as circumstances require 19. Establishes reasonable classroom rules with consistent enforcement occurring in a positive way 20. Cooperates with administrative and supervisory staff in the evaluation process 21. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers relative to school matters 22. Complies with and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies. 23. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other professional meetings as required. 24. Cooperates and collaborates with other staff members to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods 25. Completes reasonable special assignments as determined by the Principal and assists the school administration 26. Provides long and short-range professional development goals and plans through the program of study 27. Participates in and provides business partners for the CTE Advisory Board 28. Sponsors the local chapter of their respective CTSO (Career & Technical Student Organization); Encourages and assists students in competition preparation 29. Provides and monitors an updated program inventory list required by law, school division policy, and administrative regulations 30. Performs other related duties as assigned

Duties performed typically in a school setting. Performs professional work providing instruction for the assigned subject. Work requires prolonged standing and physical movement as it relates job-specific duties. Light lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required. Vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data are required.
