Grant Research Intern

About Eye Spy Foundation:
The Eye Spy Foundation is building a more accessible digital future for the blind and low-vision community through EyeSpy.org, the one-stop shop for accessibility resources. We’re seeking a Grant Research & Writing Intern to help us research funders, support grant writing, and build a grant calendar that will strengthen our funding pipeline and scale our mission to serve the blind and low-vision community.

This hands-on, remote Spring 2026 internship will immerse you in real nonprofit development work. You’ll help research foundations, corporations, and public funding opportunities; organize opportunities into a strategic grant calendar; and support writing, editing, and tailoring of proposals and sponsorship outreach. You’ll join weekly meetings with the founder to review opportunities, refine priorities, and discuss strategy, and you’ll receive mentorship from a grant professional on one of our board councils, giving you direct exposure to how funders think and how strong proposals are crafted.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Research grantmakers and sponsorship opportunities aligned with accessibility, disability inclusion, health equity, and digital inclusion
  • Maintain and refine a live grant calendar with deadlines, submission dates, and follow-up tasks
  • Draft and edit portions of proposals, letters of inquiry, and sponsor outreach content
  • Compile data, stories, and research that strengthen our case for support and demonstrate impact

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in nonprofit management, public policy, English, communications, social sciences, or a related field
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to synthesize information clearly and concisely
  • Detail-oriented and organized, comfortable tracking multiple opportunities and deadlines
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a remote environment and collaborate asynchronously
  • Genuine interest in accessibility, disability justice, or social impact, and curiosity about fundraising or grant writing as a skillset

What You’ll Gain:

  • Practical, resume-ready experience in grant research, grant writing, and calendar management for a growing nonprofit
  • Weekly strategic conversations with the founder about funding, program design, and organizational growth
  • Mentorship from an experienced grant professional serving on our board councils
  • A portfolio of tangible work products (research briefs, calendar tools, proposal sections) that you can reference for future roles or grad school
  • The chance to directly support a mission-driven organization working alongside and for the blind and low-vision community

Details:

Format: Remote

Timing: Spring semester internship, starting January 2026

Compensation: Unpaid, but can be used for college credit; we’ll support any school documentation or CPT/OPT requirements
