The ideal candidate has interest in learning the business side of video production—from creating budgets and overseeing shoots to supporting company-wide financial processes.

This role is designed for someone who wants to grow into a trusted operational partner, effectively becoming a “second-in-command” to our Director of Business Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

Production Finance & Business Affairs

  • Assist in creating budgets, bids, and financial proposals for new projects across documentaries, commercials, live sports, and branded content.
  • Support tracking and managing budgets throughout all project phases to ensure financial accuracy and cost control.
  • Participate in line producing tasks, including cost reporting, vendor negotiations, and coordination of production logistics.
  • Aid in risk management during shoots, ensuring compliance with insurance, safety standards, and legal considerations.
  • Help review, organize, and administer legal documents such as contracts, releases, and vendor agreements.
  • Assist in production accounting by helping the Production Operations team file invoices and receipts.
  • Assist the accounting team in daily bookkeeping through Quickbooks.

Production Operations

  • Assist in hiring crew, staff, and post-production personnel across multiple projects.
  • Support coordination of project timelines, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain clear communication between internal departments and external partners.

Internal Finance & Company Operations

  • Help prepare and maintain company-wide financial reports, including payroll, margin analysis, and expense tracking.
  • Support the Director in monitoring company financial health, forecasting, and data reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining accounting structures and organizational processes to improve operational workflow.
  • Participate in strategic planning around staffing, budgeting, and long-term business performance.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years experience in production, finance, operations, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills with comfort working in spreadsheets, budgets, and financial documents.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in production finance, business affairs, and hands-on learning.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with ability to grow into expanded responsibilities.

What This Role Offers

  • A unique opportunity to learn the full business operations of a production company from the inside out.
  • Mentorship and direct exposure to budgeting, production management, legal processes, and company-level financial operations.
  • Room for advancement into higher-level operational, business affairs, or production finance roles as the company grows.
  • A meaningful impact on both project-level execution and company-wide strategy.
