Job Title: Founding CTO / Co-Founder Company: Telly Cares Location: Bay Area / Oakland (Hybrid + Regular In-Person) Status: Pre-Seed ($100k Raised) | Berkeley SkyDeck Pad-13 | Paid Pilot Secured ($15k+) Compensation: 30-40% Equity (Vesting Schedule) + Future Salary post-funding

 

🚀 The Opportunity

Telly Cares is the AI-native data layer for eldercare, tackling the $52B readmission crisis by bridging the gap between home and hospital. We are a Berkeley SkyDeck Pad-13 company entering a rapid growth phase.

We are seeking a true, opinionated partner—not just an employee. You will join as Founding CTO alongside our CEO (a 10-year Epic EMR and healthcare domain-expert) to architect our platform from the ground up. We operate with a lean structure: you will be the core engineer, managing ad-hoc contractors and interns to accelerate development.

 

🧠 Candidate Profile

We are looking for a lead architect with high technical standards and a strong sense of ownership.

  • Startup Agility: You thrive in fast-paced, scrappy environments. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and can execute quickly even when requirements evolve.
  • Quality & Safety First: You prioritize data integrity, security, and handling edge cases, understanding that our software impacts patient health.
  • AI-Enabled Efficiency: You are proficient with modern AI coding tools (Cursor/Copilot) to increase velocity, but you possess the strong CS fundamentals required to identify errors and ensure code reliability.
  • Resourceful Communication: You proactively document architectural decisions and find creative solutions to solve problems within budget constraints.
  • Architectural Discipline: You write clean, maintainable code and design scalable data schemas capable of handling complex, unstructured text.

 

⚡ Key Responsibilities

  • Ship the MVP: Build and deploy the cross-platform mobile app (for families) and web dashboard (for clinicians) for our upcoming clinical pilot. Borrow from existing code as needed.
  • System Architecture: Design the database schema and API structure to ingest, clean, and analyze unstructured narrative text.
  • Technical Management: Define technical specifications for contractors/interns and own the QA process to ensure stability.

 

🎓 Requirements

  • Location: Must be located in the Greater SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
  • Background: Recent graduate or CS Major (Masters/Senior/Junior) with a light class load.
  • Skills: Full-stack fluency (Python/Node + React Native), Mobile development experience, and API design.
  • Attention to Detail: Please mention "I Like Turtles" in your introduction.
