Intern - Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer
Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI), located just north of Boston, MA seeks an undergraduate or graduate student with experience in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering for an internship supporting our project Deployable Vehicle Interface Mount for Wheelchair Accessibility.
PSI is developing a standardized adapter that will allow wheelchair users greater accessibility to public and private transportation, including autonomous taxis and air travel. The purpose is to secure the chair and user into the vehicle and prevent injury during collisions.
The responsibilities of the intern supporting this project include:
- Design and testing of the adapter while working closely with PSI engineers
- Assessment of failure modes and creative problem solving to address changes
- Present results to the team and external collaborators
During this internship, the candidate will work with experts in the field to gain experience performing experimental design, design for manufacturing, and some aspects of industrial engineering.
This internship may be most beneficial for students pursuing degrees in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Design, with interests in public policy and accessibility advocacy.
Hourly Wage Range : $20-$35
Candidates must be a US citizen, have a lawful permanent resident of the US or otherwise authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
