Speech Language Pathologist

Vinfen is looking for a part-time Speech Language Pathologist -  Weymouth, MA area.

 

The Speech and Language Therapist evaluates and summarizes an individual’s receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language and writes Communication Evaluations. He/she also develops treatment plans for each individual, as needed for communication & speech. Trains direct care staff on specific interventions around communication goals and objectives. He/she encourages independence in activities of daily living for the individuals we serve as well as introduces and trains on the use of communication devices. Advocates for the special needs for each individual we serve and follows regulations established by MassHealth.

 

SIGN ON BONUS: $2.5K - Hourly pay $50.00 an hour

 

  • Provides skilled communication assessments on all individuals at least every two years or more frequently when there is a significant change in a member’s status.
  • Creates communication goals and objectives. Provides Support Agreements for individuals as indicated to his/her current and anticipated needs.
  • Reviews and provides input on referral information for potential new members.
  • As needed, evaluates and treats swallowing disorders in individuals served.
  • As needed, trains staff on signs, symptoms, and treatments for managing dysphasia in day hab members.
  • Directs and aids individuals and staff in following through with aforementioned assessments and service plans.
  • Works closely as part of the interdisciplinary team to create a plan that works for all facets of the individuals’ life.
  • Participates in the completion of the Severity Profile as required by MassHealth.
  • Conducts staff training so that treatment plans can be implemented consistently across all direct care staff.
  • Advocates for an individual’s needs via family, guardians, local residence, and primary care physicians.
  • Adapts communication strategies to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Provides in-service training for direct care staff in the use of augmentative & alternative communication systems, PSS data collection, and new techniques.
  • Attends Support Planning and Risk meetings, as necessary.
  • Assists in monitoring the progress of individuals served by participating in 6-month interdisciplinary team reviews or more frequently if the Day Hab member requires it.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

 

Required Credentials/Licenses:

 

Licensed Speech/Language Pathologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Speech Pathology and Audiology and must have either a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ALSHA), or a statement from ASLHA of certification equivalency.
