What You Could Be Working On:

Every internship is shaped by hands-on work, site visits, and real field experience. You may support:

Water Resources and Environmental

  •  
    •  
      • Water supply studies, groundwater recharge work, stormwater systems, and environmental field assessments
      • Projects that help communities use and manage water responsibly
      • Site visits to observe field conditions and gather environmental data

Civil and Transportation

  •  
    •  
      • Roadway improvements, grading, utilities, and site development designs
      • Field visits, data collection, and GIS mapping
      • Exposure to real civil infrastructure projects under construction

Agriculture and Irrigation

  •  
    •  
      • Irrigation evaluations, pump tests, and water efficiency studies
      • Planning and support for growers and agricultural districts
      • Field observations of irrigation and ag infrastructure systems

Planning and GIS

  •  
    •  
      • Mapping, land use planning, visualization, and community engagement
      • Turning technical concepts into clear communication materials
      • Opportunities to attend meetings or project site visits

Surveying and Construction Support

  •  
    •  
      • GPS data collection, construction staking, and field measurements
      • Observing how engineering designs become real-world construction
      • Joining survey crews on site to experience equipment and field workflows
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word (Microsoft Suite) programs, and familiarity with AutoCAD

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree program in one of the following or related:
    • Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Planning, Water Resource Management, Geology, Hydrogeology
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ability to work in person full-time for 10-12 weeks during summer 2026
    • Extension for part-time hybrid work after summer dependent upon performance and workload

Preferred (varies depending upon area of interest):

  • Third- and fourth-year students highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good writing and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word (Microsoft Suite) programs, and familiarity with AutoCAD
