PAGE Summer Program Interns
PAGE is hiring 4-5 college students to work as interns in our Summer Program in Madison County, North Carolina. The dates of employment are from June 1st - July 24th, 2026. Our Summer staff, including interns, work Mondays-Fridays, most days from 9-4 onsite in Marshall, NC, where we hold our programs. Responsibilities also include two overnight field trips, including one at the end the Summer where we take PAGE participants on a college immersion trip (this Summer to East Tennessee State University), which includes traveling and staying together on campus for 3 days and 3 nights.
Interns support our interdisciplinary, hands-on programming for girls in 6th-12th grades. Professional educators, scientists, and artists lead the main projects, and interns provide support by working in small groups with the girls to meet the goals and learning outcomes established by these project facilitators. In June, the Story Lab will focus on creative storytelling that highlights local change-makers of the arts. In July, the STEAM Lab explores sustainable design in the fields of agriculture, fashion, and architecture. We offer two orientation sessions, one week in early June and another 3-days in early July, so interns are fully prepared for the two different PAGE sessions.
In addition, most interns will be responsible for leading literature groups with small groups of girls each afternoon. A Literature Program Coordinator will provide leadership and support for the interns as they choose their books and creative activities. Finally, we are seeking one person who will work as the Documentary Arts intern, providing support to our mission by making photographs or videos, occasionally posting on social media, and/or supporting the efforts of our Communications Specialist, Ryn McCall. (Please note in your application if you're interested in this specific role. Include examples of your doc arts work if possible.)
Interns should be flexible, adaptable, eager to learn, organized, clear communicators, adventurous, responsible, and excited to work closely with youth.
