Superintendent
The St. Joseph County Intermediate School District (ISD) Board of Education is seeking an innovative and experienced leader to serve as its next Superintendent. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and dynamic educator who will lead with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
St. Joseph County is a rural community, comprised of nine constituent school districts and one community college, with a total county-wide enrollment of approximately 10,000 students. The ISD directs and coordinates Special Education programs and services for persons with disabilities age 0-26, and provides a variety of other services such as Career & Technical Education, Early Childhood & Great Start Readiness Programs, Information Services, and Instructional Leadership. Qualifications:
- Michigan Department of Education Administrator Certification requirements must be met
- Strong preference will be given to individuals with:
- MA in Education
- 30 graduate hours in Education Administration or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a superintendent, ISD administrator, and/or district K-12 administrator
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
The Board prefers that the selected candidate reside within 20 miles of St. Joseph County, Michigan
Compensation:
The Board will provide a competitive and comparable compensation package.
The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract with provisions for annual review and evaluations.

Applications are due by January 19, 2026.
Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the St. Joseph County ISD Board of Education. All applications will be handled confidentially until the list of interview candidates is determined.
A Search Committee consisting of ISD Board Members, ISD administration and staff, and other key stakeholders will provide input to the Board.
First interviews are tentatively scheduled for March 16 and March 19, 2026. (Note: Travel expenses for the first interview will be the responsibility of the candidate.)
Additional evaluation may include a visit to the candidate’s home district during the week of April 13, 2026.
An assessment of candidates that demonstrates strengths, weaknesses, and their predictability of excellence will be conducted by an outside vendor.
It is expected that the superintendent will begin work on or about June 1, 2026.
