Emerging Landscape Designer

Eden Design Services is actively seeking an emerging designer who is excited to build hands-on experience and learn alongside a principal designer. This role is ideal for someone early in their landscape design career. If you’re passionate about outdoor living spaces, design, plants, and learning the full design-to-installation process, we would love to talk with you. 

What You’ll Do

Under the mentorship of the principal designer:

Design Support:

  • Assist in preparation of design documents, conceptual and schematic designs, design development, and construction documents
  • Assist with site visits & measurements 
  • Prepare graphic representations, visual perspectives and presentation materials
  • Participate as a team to complete projects on time and on budget
  • Choose plants in Plant Master based on zone, aesthetic, water, light requirements 
  • Create plants in 3D Software as needed
  • Create Pinterest Idea Boards
  • Check in regularly with team and communicate well with others
  • Estimate project time to complete tasks
  • Understand Eden Design brand standards and execute at that level
  • Accurately capture hours spent working

  • Are comfortable working in a small, creative studio environment
  • Have the ability to visualize concepts
  • Have an understanding of scale, proportion and layout
  • Understand style aesthetics and how to blend form, texture and color
  • Have proficiency in Google Applications
  • Are excited to learn new software as needed
     

Bonus (not required)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchup, Structure Studios, or compatible 3D modeling software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Horticulture knowledge (California natives & drought-tolerant planting especially)
  • Prior nursery, greenhouse, or contractor experience

Work Style & Schedule

  • Part-time to start (10–20 hours/week), with flexibility
  • In-person site visits required in the Tri-Valley Region: Livermore, Pleasanton, Danville, Alamo, San Ramon
  • Remote/off-site work is welcome once trained
  • 3-month initial period with the opportunity to extend or transition into a longer-term role based on performance and business needs

Compensation

  •  $25–$40/hour, depending on experience and skill level
  • This is a W-2 temporary employee role (not contractor), to ensure compliance with CA labor law and support a learning-focused environment
  • Opportunities for role growth and increased project ownership over time
