Background of Our Organization

Minds Beyond Measure (MBM) is a nonprofit established in 2019, inspired by the founder's experiences traveling and living abroad across Asia. Witnessing a lack of educational resources and access to education in impoverished communities sparked a passion to provide access to quality education for both teachers and students. MBM focuses on delivering transformative teacher coaching, professional development, and mentorship programs through Creative Arts, serving underserved communities in New York, the Phillipines, South Africa, and Kenya.

Role Overview

As a Human Resources Volunteer, you will be at the heart of our mission by supporting the recruitment and onboarding of passionate individuals who make our programs possible. This role offers the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit HR operations, while ensuring we bring in diverse, committed talent to help us drive real impact across underserved communities globally.

You'll enhance essential professional skills-including organization, communication, time management, and interviewing-while contributing to a mission-driven team dedicated to educational equity and global citizenship

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage applicant activity daily across Indeed, Idealist, and Handshake
  • Review incoming applications and maintain candidate tracking records
  • Communicate with candidates in a timely and professional manner to schedule interviews
  • Conduct virtual interviews using structured interview guidelines and evaluation criteria
  • Collaborate with program manager to provide interview feedback and make candidate recommendations
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, schedules, and applicant communication
  • Assist in updating job descriptions and postings as needed
  • Support the development of onboarding materials and HR processes as time allows

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of all or most of the following platforms: Indeed, Handshake, and Idealist
  • Professional and clear written/verbal communication
  • Comfortable conducting virtual interviews and managing confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
  • Growth mindset and interest in nonprofit work, education, or human resources
  • Prior experience in an administrative or leadership role is a plus, but not required
