Responsibilities
Tiza Serrano Thompson & Associates, Claims Litigation Counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Sacramento, California, is hiring a Spring and Summer Law Intern who will have exposure to litigation and trial practice. The internship strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship. We enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff. The planned start date for the internship is 1/12/2026. The spring and summer intern will be paid at a rate of $35/hr and will receive a $2,000 intern stipend in the summer.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be currently enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA or CBA accredited law school and must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship with at least one term remaining following Summer 2026.
- Preferred class ranking in the top half of their class
- Strong research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Internship Details:

Hours:
- Spring: Monday-Friday, 15 hours per week
- Summer: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
- It is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.

Pay: $35/hour. In addition, interns in our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!

Work Arrangement: HYBRID – During the spring, selected interns should plan to spend most of their time working in the office. Over the summer, we will move to a hybrid work arrangement with some time available to work from home. Work arrangements may change based on business need. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.
