Dual-Role English Instructor
Job Posting: Dual-Role English Instructor (ESL & Advanced English/SAT/ACT Prep)
We are a premier learning center in Northwest Austin seeking an enthusiastic, talented, and dedicated educator for a long-term, full-time W-2 position. This unique role combines English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction with advanced English and test preparation for native speakers. We are looking for a dynamic teacher who can inspire students across a spectrum of ages and proficiency levels.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will be a versatile instructor capable of teaching two key areas:
ESL Instruction (20-30 hours per week): Teaching English language skills to non-native speakers of various ages and levels.
Advanced English & Test Prep: Providing high-level reading, writing, and critical thinking instruction, along with SAT/ACT test preparation, to upper elementary through high school students (native speakers).
Key Responsibilities:
Teach engaging and effective ESL lessons, developing students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Instruct advanced English classes, focusing on literature analysis, composition, grammar, and vocabulary development.
Conduct SAT/ACT test preparation sessions, including administering practice tests, reviewing answers, and teaching proven test-taking strategies.
Provide daily classroom instruction, addressing common challenges in English, reading, and writing.
Closely monitor and track student progress, maintaining detailed notes and providing constructive feedback.
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student development and performance.
Maintain an organized, clean, and conducive learning environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or teaching certification a plus.
ESL Requirement: Proven experience and/or certification in teaching English as a Second Language (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA).
Exceptional verbal, written, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated experience in teaching, tutoring, or strong personal performance in SAT/ACT English/Reading/Writing sections, with deep familiarity test strategies.
Experience working with a diverse range of students, from young ESL learners to high school-aged native speakers.
Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, responsible, patient, and punctual.

Schedule & Details:
Start Date: January 10, 2026 (with intention of permanent employment).
Schedule: Weekdays, Monday through Thursday. Full-time commitment preferred; part-time may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Location: In-person at our Northwest Austin center.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
