Camp Supervisor

2026 Camp Season
- Work up to 40 hours per week from June 8–July 31
- **With the possibility to work Extended Camp Weeks through August 14**
- Typical working hours during camp season are Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, but may vary slightly
- Mandatory Supervisor Training Dates: April 26 & May 3 (PAID!)
- Mandatory All-Staff Training Dates: June 2-5 (PAID!)

Duties of Camp Supervisors include, but are not limited to:
Program Leadership & Planning
- Design, deliver and evaluate camp programs that meet the needs and interests of campers while ensuring safety, quality and inclusion.
- Stay informed on youth developmental needs and apply this knowledge in camp programming.
- Implement the full camp curriculum and adapt activities as needed.
- Oversee supply procurement and management within the operating budget, ensuring timely inventory and replacement.
- Manage camper and staff records in compliance with policies, laws and accreditation standards.
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain safety and well-being of all campers and staff by following camp policies and procedures.
- Anticipate, prevent and respond to potential problems with staff, campers or the environment.
- Maintain camper discipline in a respectful, age-appropriate way that supports camp objectives and promotes a positive environment.
- Conduct daily safety checks of program areas and equipment; keep spaces clean and free from hazards.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Serve as the primary liaison between camp staff and the Camps Program Coordinator.
- Set the example for Recreation Services’ workplace expectations: positive energy, mutual trust, solution-oriented approach and accountability.
- Assist in the design and delivery of staff training; ensure all staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Observe, evaluate and provide feedback on camp staff performance.
- Model professional behavior and uphold all safety and reporting requirements.
Camper Engagement & Development
- Create a positive and inclusive camp environment where all campers feel valued.
- Support campers in adjusting to camp, building friendships and developing independence, self-esteem and problem-solving skills.
- Interact fairly and respectfully with campers, staff and parents; address needs and concerns promptly.
- Encourage camper input in planning their camp experience.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work cooperatively with Assistant Supervisors, Counselors, and full-time staff to deliver a high-quality camp program.
- Participate in all program areas, including all-camp activities, field trips, swimming, Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games and Outdoor Education.
- Communicate calmly and respectfully with families, facility staff and Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) staff.
- Report concerns or incidents promptly to the Camps Program Coordinator.
- Take on additional responsibilities necessary to ensure quality service to all campers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Degree in recreation, education or related field; OR three (3) or more years of significant supervisory experience in a large camp environment (20+ staff, 200+ campers, 8+ successive camp weeks)
- Availability to attend all mandatory training dates
- Ability and experience to lead and supervise others (campers and camp staff)
- Willingness to take direction from supervisors, as well as work independently to fulfill responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Full-time supervisory experience managing complex staff and situations
- Five (5) or more years of previous camp experience (in any role)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for occasional facility/operational/safety needs
- Ability to remain active or on your feet for the length of a camp shift
- Ability to operate standard office equipment in performing essential functions of work
- Camp takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings, with frequent exposure to summer weather conditions

- Evaluate camp program and environment and provide input to support staff and supervisors
- Abide by mandatory reporting policies as described in the staff manual
