Associate Producer
I Believe Productions is seeking highly motivated and versatile Associate Producer Mentee to join our team for a hands-on, multi-project documentary mentorship. This is a unique chance to get a 360-degree view of the independent film industry, from creative development to distribution strategy.
About the Mentorship
This is not a single-track mentorship; you will be exposed to the entire life cycle of multiple feature documentary projects at various stages of production. You will be learning directly from the core team, building a rare, comprehensive skill set required to be a modern documentary producer.
Key Mentorship Needed in the Following Areas
The mentee will receive direct guidance and hands-on experience in the following high-impact areas:
- Fundraising & Events: Dive into the strategy behind securing crucial support for an independent documentary. You’ll assist with grant research, help develop compelling pitch materials, and contribute to writing and organizing grant applications. This role also supports the planning and execution of fundraising events — both online and in person — including virtual panels, community meet-ups, and themed benefit events. It’s a great fit for someone interested in nonprofit development, arts funding, or event production.
- Production Coordination: Help keep our documentary moving forward by supporting the organizational backbone of the project. Responsibilities include organizing documentary archives, maintaining and updating production timelines, and helping coordinate communication across the team — including producers, editors, on-camera talent, and external partners. This role also supports casting efforts, including scheduling interviews, organizing submissions, and assisting with outreach to potential participants. You’ll gain hands-on experience in project management, workflow optimization, and behind-the-scenes operations essential to documentary filmmaking.
- Public Relations: Help shape the public voice and external presence of Ginger Girls: The Secret Lives of Redheads. In this role, you’ll assist with crafting press releases, developing media pitches, and coordinating outreach to journalists, editors, podcasters, and relevant brands. You’ll help maintain and update press lists, prepare media kits, monitor press coverage, and support the team during interviews, screenings, and public appearances. This position is ideal for someone interested in media relations, strategic communication, and elevating documentary storytelling through earned media.
