Position Summary: The accountant will support the finance department and agency in keeping track of important general ledger entries tied to external contracts. The accountant will also provide daily support to the Controller and perform a variety of analyzing costs, financial projections, and providing timely financial statements. The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough understanding of non-profit accounting along with accounting standards. The individual should have a strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable/ Payable, General Ledger, computerized accounting software, and Microsoft Excel. The ideal candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong numeracy and analytical skills, and be detail oriented. This position does require the individual to sit in an office setting for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor general ledger transactions for accuracy
- Analyze costs and prepare financial projections
- Financial reporting and planning
- Month end close procedures along with internal financial statements
- Assist Controller with State/County contracts
- Meet processing and reporting deadlines
- Prepare other financial data or reports based on the agency needs
- Communicate with other departments within the agency, as well as Controller
- Maintain integrity when working with personal and sensitive financial information
Requirements
Education:
- Associates degree in accounting or related field required
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in accounting or related field required
