Social Media Intern
About the Role
We're seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to join our team remotely. This part-time position is designed for a college senior in the NYC/New Jersey area who's passionate about digital storytelling and looking to transition into a full-time role after graduation. If you have a strong creative background and want hands-on experience building engaging social media content, we want to hear from you.
Location & Schedule
- Location: Remote (must be based in NYC/New Jersey area)
- Schedule: Part-time (15-20 hours per week, flexible around class schedule)
- Duration: Academic year with potential to convert to full-time upon graduation
What You'll Do
- Create eye-catching graphics, animations, and visual content for our social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter/X)
- Assist in developing and executing social media campaigns that drive engagement and brand awareness
- Capture and edit photography and video content for various platforms
- Help maintain our social media calendar and schedule posts across multiple platforms
- Monitor social media trends and suggest creative ways to incorporate them into our strategy
- Engage with our online community by responding to comments and messages
- Track analytics and provide insights on content performance
- Collaborate with the marketing team on web content updates and digital assets
- Contribute fresh ideas for content series and campaigns
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Currently a senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related field
- Background or coursework in one or more of the following: graphics/design, web development, photography, or animation
- Portfolio demonstrating creative work (design projects, photography, animations, or personal social media content)
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their best practices
- Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, or similar)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Self-motivated with strong time management abilities
- Available to work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year
Bonus Points:
- Experience with video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut)
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS or other web development skills
- Experience managing social media accounts (personal brand or for organizations/clubs)
- Familiarity with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social)
- Understanding of SEO and social media analytics
