Event Programming Intern

EVENT PROGRAMMING INTERN

The National Comedy Center is currently seeking candidates for its 2025 internship program. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an award-winning non-profit cultural institution and national destination. The state-of-the-art National Comedy Center was recently named the “Best New Museum” in the country by USA Today and one of the “World’s Greatest Places” by TIME magazine. 

The Event Programming Intern will help plan and coordinate the comedy and entertainment events during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, produced by the National Comedy Center each August.

This internship will be on-site in Jamestown, NY, for the Summer 2026 season with the potential for extension beyond the summer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the event programming and the execution of performance and events for the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
  • Provide hospitality and logistical support for entertainers during the festival.
  • Assist with event-based marketing promoting the National Comedy Center and its initiatives through online and in-person programs.
  • Assist with handling box office duties and taking comedy festival ticket orders.
  • Assist with motorcoach and group visits including greeting and supporting tour groups.
  • Perform administrative tasks including mailings, data entry, and responding to phone calls and emails.
  • Other duties as appropriate and necessary. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Abbility to provide outstanding hospitality to festival/museum guests and performers.
  • Theatrical experience including knowledge of stage management and QLab is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in organizing and executing events of varying sizes with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Basic office skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to commit to 15-20 hours per week; hours are flexible.
  • All interns must complete at least 4 hours each week on the museum floor to learn attraction operations, interact with visitors, and increase comedy knowledge.
  • Hours may increase to full-time during the week before and the week of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in August; schedules can be arranged with a supervisor. 
  • Interns will use their personal laptops during the internship; alternate arrangements can be discussed upon acceptance.
