Operational Excellence Lean Specialist Intern - Indianapolis, Indiana

 

As the Operational Excellence Lean Specialist Intern, you'll will be responsible for supporting the Indianapolis Exits Manufacturing Plant through the Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. The Lean Specialist is an integral part of the plant’s daily operations, growth, and transformation. Your role will ensure the principles, practices, and tools are incorporated into the Allegion culture.  As the Operational Excellence Lean Specialist, you will have the opportunity to interact directly with all levels of plant operations and corporate leadership. Your role is key to the implementation and support actions that will bring about improvements to multiple areas including safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

 

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position. 

 

What You Will Do:

 

Implement tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision and execute long and short-term objectives to support the value stream’s goals.

Drive Operational Excellence culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to drive Lean behaviors and follow the principles and practices of Allegion’s Operational Excellence Model.

Support the Lean initiatives as the Lean Specialist in collaboration with the value stream team through operational design, process improvements, and systems support utilizing value stream mapping techniques.

Provide effective project updates to Value Stream Leadership on key metrics and sustainability.

Participate in and actively direct Gemba Walks and educating others on continuous improvement including takt time attainment and Lean methodologies.

Implement and maintain visual performance tools.

 

What You Need to Succeed:

Pursuing a degree in Change Management, Industrial Engineering, Leadership, or other relevant discipline

Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, leadership on school or work projects, etc.

Strong analytical skills and comfort with complex data

Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques 

A desire to learn, grow and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers

In addition, you ideally have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and some previous work experience; if not, we’re happy to provide all the support you will need to succeed in our summer internship
