Workforce Development Administrator
SUMMARY:
The Workforce Development Administrator provides administrative and operational support for the Museum’s EcoExplorer Internship and Aviation Academy Internship programs. This position helps ensure seamless implementation of all aspects of the internships, including recruitment, onboarding, training, mentorship, scheduling, field excursions, and overall program logistics for high school interns pursuing career pathways in environmental sustainability and aviation. The Workforce Development Administrator works closely with the Environmental Program Manager and Aviation Academy Manager to support high-quality learning experiences that fuel workforce readiness and STEM engagement and equally provide administrative and project oversight to the Strategic Initiatives Department, contributing to the museum’s broader mission-driven initiatives and partnerships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma. Bachelors in education, environmental science, aviation, or another STEMrelated field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a museum, educational, or program coordination setting. Must demonstrate knowledge of STEM career fields, particularly environmental issues related to South Florida and the physical sciences related to aviation. Management experience in hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and organizing staff or volunteers is preferred. Requires strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; self-motivation; and the ability to think creatively and solve problems. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift 50 lbs. This position requires availability during Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) out-of-school days — including weekends, some holidays, and BCPS closures — to successfully operate the EcoExplorer and Aviation Academy Internship programs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative (Guest Experience) • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of all high school interns. • Maintain accurate records of intern participation, attendance, and program outcomes. • Maintain internship-related files, receipts, and contracts in SharePoint (Museum’s cloudbased server). • Research and track costs for excursions, manage logistics, and order meals for on-site and off-site sessions. • Provide administrative oversight including coordination of partnerships, programs, and events related to workforce and sustainability initiatives. • Input required monthly NEXUS data for the Children’s Services Council (CSC) and participate in CSC training. Page 2 of 3 • Support grant reporting and tracking deliverables by ensuring the timely progress of grant fulfillment, including maintaining accurate data and scheduling program calendars. Education (Workforce Development) • Coordinate onboarding and scheduling of all high school interns. • Support students through hands-on learning, field excursions, workforce readiness, and project-based experiences. • Facilitate group communication among interns, families, museum staff, and external partners. • Assist in coordinating guest speakers, field trips, and career engagement activities with community and industry partners. • Support interns in logistics of developing and delivering STEM-based programming for museum guests and community outreach events. • Assist in the logistics planning of the MODS Youth Climate Summit Action Forum and the Broward County Schools Youth Climate Summit in collaboration with the Environmental Programs Manager. • Represent the Museum at community and partner events as needed. • Maintain current knowledge of Museum events, exhibits, and programs to provide accurate information to interns and guests.
