DNA Learning Center College Intern (Paid)

As a DNALC College Intern, you will gain practical experience in both laboratory and science education environments. Interns work independently and alongside experienced instructors, building valuable skills in teaching, laboratory techniques, and student engagement that are applicable across many scientific and educational settings.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test experimental materials and reagents for field trips, faculty trainings, student research projects, and other DNALC programs.
  • Independently operate a variety of scientific instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate scientific documentation and organize experimental records.
  • Maintain bacterial strains and ensure laboratory spaces and equipment remain clean, organized, and functional.
  • Support and mentor high school interns during their training.
  • Assist educational staff with classroom activities, lunch supervision, and student drop-off/pick-up during summer programs.

Position Requirements

Education: Current matriculated college student. Preference is given to CUNY students.

Experience:

  • Passion for genetics, biotechnology, and education.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 6 hours per week during the school year.
  • Minimum of 6 weeks of availability during the summer.

Hourly Rate: $18.50
