Social Media Student Assistant
Are you creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about social media? The Office of Academic & Retention Support is looking for a motivated Student Assistant to support our outreach and engagement efforts through dynamic and student-centered digital content. This Student Assistant will help to connect their peers to critical academic, personal, and professional support by managing and growing our social media presence. This position is perfect for students who are looking to expand their skill set and use their Marketing, Communication, or other degree in a real-world setting. This position can expect 10 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Promote events, programs, and services through digital campaigns
- Capture photos and video at office-sponsored events for social media use
- Track analytics and engagement to inform future content strategies
- Monitors comments, messages, and mentions, engaging with followers in a professional tone
- Maintain the social media content calendar and ensure consistent brand messaging
- Collaborate with staff and other student employees to align messaging with departmental goals
- Assist with occasional graphic design, newsletters, or website updates
Required Skills:
- 2.8 Cumulative GPA
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms and current trends
- Creative thinker with an eye for visual design
- Basic experience with Canva, Adobe Express, or other similar content creation tools
- Ability to take photos with smartphones or university device
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and accept design suggestions
- Comfortable representing the university and office in a professional way
- Ability to shoot videos preferred but not required
