Research Intern - Computer Vision
Project Description
Implement and evaluate SORT (Simple Online and Realtime Tracking) and Deep SORT algorithms for overhead reconnaissance imagery, exploring potential integration with existing tracking systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Study and implement SORT and Deep SORT tracking algorithms
- Adapt algorithms for remote sensing imagery data processing
- Benchmark performance characteristics
- Computational complexity per frame
- Memory efficiency with active track management
- Real-time processing capability
- Investigate integration pathways with more robust tracking algorithm for dynamic algorithm switching in high-density detection environments
- Document algorithm performance, limitations, and recommendations for operational deployment
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong foundation in computer vision and/or machine learning
- Programming proficiency in Python (PyTorch experience preferred)
- Familiarity with object detection and tracking concepts
- Ability to read and implement algorithms from academic papers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with video processing or sensor data analysis
- Knowledge of deep learning architectures for appearance-based tracking
- Interest in defense/aerospace applications
