Department Engineering
Summary
H2O Inc. designs and manufactures water treatment systems for offshore platforms and commercial marine vessels. We are seeking a CAD Designer with strong SolidWorks capability and foundational mechanical design knowledge. This role is ideal for graduating students from drafting and design programs who want to work directly on real industrial systems such as seawater RO units, electrochlorination systems, sewage treatment systems, and bilge water treatment packages.
Advanced SolidWorks proficiency is a firm minimum requirement. Candidates must be able to model complex parts and assemblies and produce fabrication quality drawings.
Essential Responsibilities
3D Modeling and 2D Drafting
• Build and modify 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks with accuracy and efficiency
• Create fabrication and assembly drawings using AutoCAD or DraftSight
• Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to fully define parts and assemblies for fabrication
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and proper tolerances required for machining, welding, and fabrication
• Translate engineering requirements, P&IDs, and vendor datasheets into clear production drawings
• Ensure version control and document accuracy through PDM systems
Process and Mechanical Understanding
• Apply basic process concepts such as pressure, flow, pump operation, valves, and piping systems
• Incorporate mechanical and instrumentation components correctly into equipment models
• Recognize when dimensions or configurations conflict with process or operational requirements
• Work closely with project engineers to resolve discrepancies between drawings, models, and specifications
Project Execution
• Complete assigned design tasks on schedule and follow established design standards
• Support shop fabrication and assembly teams by providing clear documentation
• Update drawings to reflect as-built conditions when required
• Record task progress and design activities within the company ERP system
• Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback
