Water Network Analyst I
Position Description
This position will support Water’s SCADA and Security networks, infrastructure and cybersecurity for the utility’s mission critical systems used to treat and distribute potable water to Minneapolis and suburban customers. The Network Analyst I position will work with the Network Analyst II to maintain, monitor, and upgrade all the various components of our critical infrastructure as well as work with other Water IT team members on tasks and projects to meet the technology needs of the utility.

Anticipated starting salary: $33.86 - 46.61 / hour, depending on qualifications
Work Location:
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Water network infrastructures by performing switch and router configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of industrial control system and security networks.
- Perform domain administration duties, including Active Directory and DHCP/IP management.
- Support various network communication platforms, firewalls, interfaces and remote access.
- Support virtual server environments that host industrial control systems, physical security and other critical water applications.
- Support and monitor disaster recovery systems and online database and file backups.
- Utilize cybersecurity monitoring tools for SCADA networks and stay informed of industry cybersecurity threats. Train users in City’s and utility’s cyber best practices and policies. Recommend cybersecurity updates and policy changes.
- Configure, install and maintain desktop, mobile, and printing hardware as needed for SCADA and Security systems.
- Recommend and schedule hardware and server administration events including operating system and hardware patches and upgrades.
- Coordinate City IT asset inventories and support for the Division.
- Facilitate inventory management and enterprise-wide documentation of network infrastructure.
- Advise other team members on compatibility and performance issues across systems, services and hardware and offer recommended solutions.
- Act as an on-call resource for all systems and infrastructure outages, and guide network and system outages to resolution.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily indoors but may do some work in confined spaces or heights up to ten feet.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
3 years of post-high school specialized education in computer networking, cybersecurity or Microsoft software.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
3 years of related experience.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Desired: Cisco or Microsoft certification

Eligible List Statement
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of current networking technologies and solutions.
- Proficiency with network performance and monitoring tools for documenting and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disaster recovery/business continuation practices and data backup systems.
- Ability to configure and support virtual environments and new technology in both hardware & software.
- Experience and knowledge of domain administration, dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), and Active Directory will be preferred
- Knowledge of Operational Technology networks and environments desirable
- Good oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to: work independently; analyze, develop and implement application software; effectively prioritize and schedule multiple assignments.
