Product Development Mechanical Engineer

TechR2 is seeking a skilled and innovative Product Development Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and refining technology solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in advancing product performance, driving innovation, and ensuring alignment with TechR2’s mission as a technology solutions provider.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product design, prototyping and development of new products from concept to launch, with focus on cybersecurity asset management solutions.
  • Integrate advanced technologies (RFID, NFC Asset Tracking, IoT, blockchain, SIEM/SOAR) for secure asset tracking and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet data security, compliance, and customer requirements.
  • Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and refine designs for scalability, reliability, and adherence to NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001, ISO 20243 [OTTPS], R2, and EPA standards.
  • Apply secure design practices (encryption, tamper detection, trusted supply chains) and research emerging technologies to strengthen product innovation.
  • Partner with Techr2 suppliers and manufacturers to balance cost-effectiveness with embedded security safeguards.
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and test plans to support development and deployment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Cybersecurity Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of product development experience, ideally in machine design that integrates cybersecurity, asset management, or data lifecycle solutions.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, prototyping, validation, and secure product testing.
  • Experience in machine design of progressive processes that efficiently passes parts through a series of operations.
  • Experience with RFID/NFC, IoT asset tracking, blockchain verification, and integration with SIEM/SOAR platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards (NIST, ISO 27001) and secure design practices (encryption, firmware, tamper resistance).
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-team communication skills.

Pay:

  • Salary: $71,925 – $98,911 per year based on experience, 
  • Salary: Starting at $72,000 per year negotiable based on experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and edge computing.

- Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).

- Skills in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

- Ability to conduct risk assessments and threat modeling.

- Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

- Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or Certified Product Manager (CPM).

- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

- Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical workshops.
