University of Illinois Extension is seeking an undergraduate student intern to join the Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy Outreach Team for Summer 2026.

Key Details:

  • Duration: 12 weeks (late May – mid-August)
  • Eligibility: Any degree-seeking student who has completed at least one year of higher education
  • Compensation: Paid full-time position at $15/hour, plus up to $1,000 travel reimbursement (Illinois interns receive higher hourly pay and no subsistence stipend)
  • Application Deadline:Sunday, November 30 at 11:59 PM CT
  • Notification: Candidates will be notified by the end of January

Interns will gain hands-on experience in watershed management, participate in a regional virtual cohort, and attend an in-person student learning summit. Please note, fieldwork may involve long days in hot or adverse conditions. Regional cohort internship opportunities are available at the University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Iowa State University, South Dakota State University, and the University of Missouri.
