Metadata & Book Discovery Internship

Optimize How Readers Find Our Stories

Are you detail-oriented and fascinated by how data drives discovery in the digital age? Join our publishing team as a Metadata & Book Discovery Intern and play a vital behind-the-scenes role in ensuring our books reach the right readers across global retailers and libraries.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in creating, enhancing, and validating ONIX metadata for new and backlist titles.
  • Help optimize keywords, BISAC categories, and descriptive copy for major platforms (Amazon, Ingram, Barnes & Noble, etc.).
  • Conduct research on metadata trends, retailer requirements, and competitor best practices.
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of our title database and digital asset management.
  • Collaborate with the editorial, marketing, and sales teams to align metadata with promotional campaigns.
  • Assist in analyzing how metadata changes impact search visibility and sales performance.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Possesses exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Is analytical, curious, and enjoys problem-solving with data.
  • Has strong written communication skills.
  • Is proficient with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) and comfortable learning new software.
  • Is interested in the publishing ecosystem, digital marketing, or e-commerce.
  • Must be eligible to receive academic credit for this internship through their school or university program.
  • Familiarity with ONIX, HTML, or SEO principles is a plus, but not required.
