Engineering Intern

GEOTEK, a market leader in high-performance, engineered pultruded composite structural solutions, is looking for high-potential, highly motivated engineering interns to join our engineering team. As an engineering intern, you will support all areas of our business from manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement, to new product development, research and development, and testing. Working in partnership with other engineers and depending on assignment, primary duties may include on-floor process support, root cause investigation and corrective action, preparation of 3D CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks, material testing in the lab, and other engineering duties as assigned.   Ideal candidates will be highly motivated and driven, detail oriented, a self-starter, and capable of multi-tasking and managing and prioritizing work. Previous internship and/or work experience is considered highly desirable. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and growing engineering team in the composites field where you will gain valuable experience and opportunities to grow and develop in the engineering field!

Key areas of responsibility are:

  • Hands-on problem solving on manufacturing floor
  • Root cause investigation and corrective action
  • Preparation of 3D models, parts, and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Preparation of engineering drawings per ANSI Y14.5
  • Laboratory testing, including test planning, set-up, and documentation
  • Other engineering duties as assigned, including procuring prototypes, supporting production, and engineering documentation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Student pursing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Composites, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Materials preferred). Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Strong desire for structures, materials, or composites engineering
  • Experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks of parts, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Strong desire for hands-on product work
  • Previous work and/or internship experience is preferred
  • Must be willing and able to work continuously from a sitting and standing position, and operate power tools, test equipment, and move test articles up to 40lbs.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-starting, and capable of handling multiple assignments.
  • Familiarity with common materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes, such as steels, aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, machining, welding, painting, metal forming, casting, heat treating, etc.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are essential.
