NSSA (Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism) is committed to supporting students with autism in inclusive educational settings. We are currently hiring Consultant Teachers to provide 1:1 in-classroom support across elementary, middle, and high schools in Suffolk County. This is a 12 month position.

This is a support-focused role, working alongside classroom teachers to help individual students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally. You’ll make a direct impact using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and collaborating closely with Behavior Consultants (BCBAs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a student in a classroom setting (elementary, middle, or high school)
  • Support behavioral, academic, and social-emotional goals
  • Implement and model ABA strategies to reinforce positive behaviors and de-escalate challenges
  • Conduct ongoing data collection and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate with classroom staff, Behavior Consultants, and families
  • Participate in formal and informal student assessments
  • Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field (required)
  • Experience with children with autism and ABA techniques (preferred)
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (a plus)
  • New York State Certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities (a plus)
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) required
  • Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) strongly preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and basic computer skills

  • Pay: $40,000–$60,000 per year
