Organization Overview
The American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU) is an alliance of over 100 U.S.-based organizations that have joined their efforts and resources to support Ukraine in its defense of the universal values of freedom and human dignity. Coalition partners call the United States home, but many of us share historical experiences of oppression, violence, and war in our countries of origin and ancestral homelands – often at the hands of Russian
imperialism.
At ACU we strongly believe in common growth for the purpose of achieving our collective goals, and as such, individuals applying for these positions are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone and try a role that they could grow in. Mentorship will be made available and prioritized.
Role Description
The Outreach and Engagement Volunteer supports the ACU by expanding advocacy efforts, educating communities, and mobilizing individuals to take action in support of Ukraine. Volunteers will play a key role in building networks, countering misinformation, and ensuring that Ukrainian priorities are effectively communicated across diverse audiences. The position is remote but in-person volunteering available in some areas of the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocacy Support
- Assist in delivering ACU’s advocacy priorities to communities and stakeholders.
- Help educate others on ways to advocate for Ukraine, including contacting elected officials and
participating in campaigns. - Share accurate information and counter misinformation about Ukraine and Russian aggression.
- Community Outreach
- Identify and connect with underrepresented groups, new allies, and local communities.
- Engage with Ukrainian diaspora, allied communities, and non-Ukrainian Americans to build
support for Ukraine. - Use culturally relevant messaging to make advocacy relatable to various audiences.
- Recruitment and Engagement
- Encourage and recruit individuals to participate in advocacy at different levels (e.g., phone calls,
events, leadership roles). - Motivate advocates to remain engaged and active in advocacy efforts.

- Support outreach events, advocacy training, and summits.
- Contribute to special outreach projects, such as regional advocacy teams or targeted
campaigns.
- Communication and Coordination
- Disseminate messages, advocacy priorities, and educational materials.
- Provide feedback from outreach activities to team leads or coordinators.
- Assist in creating and sharing advocacy toolkits and resources.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong commitment to the mission of Ukrainian advocacy and defending democracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Interest or experience in community organizing, outreach, or advocacy (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently when needed.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with diaspora and allied communities.
- Flexibility and willingness to contribute to various tasks depending on organizational needs.
- No prior advocacy experience required—training and guidance will be provided.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Time Commitment
This position has a minimum time commitment of five hours per week, but more is welcomed.
