Interventional Psychiatric Technician & Office Assistant

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, and flexible individual with a background in psychology, neuroscience, and/or biology to assist with patient care and practice logistics. This is a unique opportunity to gain clinical and potential research experience in a private practice psychiatric setting. On-site training will be provided by the treating physician and co-office assistant. This position is full-time. 

 

Job Overview:

This role includes both patient care and office administration tasks. Employee will learn to administer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) utilizing an FDA approved treatment modality for Major Depressive Disorder under the direction of our treating physician, while also assisting in the efficient operation of our private practice through communication and coordination both with patients and insurance/pharmaceutical companies. This position requires exceptional organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills to ensure a smooth workflow, excellent patient experience, and effective communication within the office.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Administer TMS therapy in accordance with all provider-established guidelines and protocols, including preparing the TMS medical device and monitoring patients during treatment. 
  • Assist in Spravato/IM Ketamine treatments including monitoring blood pressure levels, writing treatment notes, and assisting the patients as they undergo treatments. 
  • Review and administer psychiatric rating scales (i.e., PHQ-9, Y-BOCS) to patients to monitor treatment response and progress. 
  • Administrative tasks including, but not limited to, scheduling patient treatment sessions, verifying, and maintaining medical insurance authorizations, documenting treatment session notes in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. 
  • Always maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. 
  • Assist as needed with all office functions, including the following:
    • Patient communication, billing, scheduling, communication with other healthcare providers.
    • Completing prior authorizations, submitting claims and ensuring payments are received and documented correctly
    • Manage incoming correspondence from pharmacies, other healthcare providers, etc. and respond in an accurate and timely manner
    • Order supplies and equipment as necessary for the practice.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (in psychology, neuroscience, and/or biological clinical sciences).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring authorization sponsorship by the company for this position now or in the future.
  • Basic Life Support knowledge. 
  • Availability to work on-site from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in a patient care/mental health setting
  • Customer service background
  • Previous experience with health insurance is a plus
