JOB TITLE: Junior Analytical Chemist
Reports to: Product Monitoring Team Leader
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Junior Chemist will collaborate with Product Monitoring Team Leader, Analytical Chemist, Laboratory Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants in performance of chemical permeation testing to ASTM and/or EN test method protocols.
Junior Chemist will assist Analytical Chemist with analyzing and organizing data for chemical permeation and physical testing and write ASTM and/or EN chemical permeation test method reports for various projects.
Additionally, Junior Chemist will collaborate with Customer Services and Technical Services teams to assist distributors and end-users and provide expert, advanced product information and recommendations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform permeation testing for database projects, manufacturing issues, R&D projects, and product certification using gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, and pH meters.
- Maintain and access SDS for all chemicals handled during permeation testing to determine risk factors and necessary PPE.
- Maintain adequate stock of chemicals, consumable supplies, and parts for laboratory equipment.
- Assist Analytical Chemist with maintenance and repair of analytical testing equipment, such as gas chromatograph and pH meters.
- Calculate permeation test results for updating and revising online databases.
- Write chemical permeation reports for database projects, manufacturing issues, customer complaints, and product certification.
- Assist Analytical Chemist with organization and preparation of electronic and paper files, documents, and records pertinent to obtaining and/or retaining EU certificates on select products.
- Assist Analytical Chemist with research for advanced recommendation requests.
- Address a wide range of distributor and end-user requests and questions, including requests for declarations, certificates, various documentation, product composition, chemical protection, mechanical risk protection, chemotherapeutic drug protection, heat/cold protection, ESD, etc.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent in a related field
EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- One year or more of laboratory experience.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of published testing standards (ASTM, EN, and ISO) as related to hand protection.
- Proficient with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Self-starting, organized, detail oriented, and ability to focus on task at hand.
- Ability to work independently with multiple departments to solve problems.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
