Social Media Intern
The Social Media Intern will support content creation, publishing, and community-building across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn for two entities under the 1968 umbrella. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about digital storytelling, branding, and audience growth.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation + Curation
- Develop engaging content (graphics, videos, captions) tailored for Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Assist in producing short-form videos and quick edits for TikTok/Reels
- Support graphic design needs, maintaining visual consistency with brand guidelines
- Help build and maintain a content library for ongoing use
- create branding templates for was of use.
Publishing + Scheduling
- Maintain a regular weekly posting schedule across platforms (content calendar will be provided)
- Use social media management tools to plan and schedule content
- Ensure all posts align with campaign goals, messaging, and branding
Engagement + Community Building
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/DMs, and identify opportunities for interaction
- Support audience growth strategies to increase followers, reach, and brand visibility
- Research trending audio, topics, and formats and incorporate them into strategies
Influencer & Partnership Support
- Assist with developing an influencer outreach strategy
- Research emerging creators and partners aligned with our mission
- Track influencer communications, deliverables, and performance metrics
Analytics + Reporting
- Track social metrics to analyze growth, engagement, and content performance
- Provide weekly insights and recommendations for improvement
Systems + Organization
- Maintain clear file organization for content, brand assets, and folders
- Support internal systems for workflows, approvals, and content calendars
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role perfect for someone looking to build social media experience in the nonprofit, political, and social impact space.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling, culture, and community-building
- Basic experience with video editing for short-form content a plus
- Graphic design skills (Canva proficiency required; Adobe Creative Suite a plus)
- Strong writing skills, especially for captions and brand messaging
- Organized, reliable, and able to maintain a consistent posting cadence
- Familiarity with social media analytics and growth strategies
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-moving environment
- Interest in politics, advocacy, civic engagement, or social impact is a plus
