The International Sibling Society, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit with partnerships across 190+ countries, is seeking a Social Media & Marketing Intern to help promote the issNOW.earth platform and drive user growth across all four modules: Internship Management, Running Clubs Directory, Virtual Museum, and Advisory Board Portal.
 

As a Social Media & Marketing Intern, you will create engaging content, manage social media channels, execute email marketing campaigns, and track analytics to achieve ambitious growth targets during the 2026 rollout. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, social media strategy, and data analytics while promoting global sustainability and social impact.
 

What You'll Do:

You will develop and execute marketing campaigns to drive user acquisition, engagement, and retention across the issNOW.earth platform. Your responsibilities will include social media content creation, email newsletter design, influencer outreach, media relations, and performance analytics. You will work collaboratively with the marketing team to achieve Phase 4 targets of 10,000-15,000 registered users from 120+ countries.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and schedule social media posts for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Design graphics and videos using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
  • Write compelling copy for social media, email newsletters, and blog posts
  • Manage social media community engagement (responding to comments, messages, and mentions)
  • Execute email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar platforms
  • Track and analyze marketing metrics (email open rates, social media engagement, website traffic, conversion rates)
  • Generate monthly marketing reports with insights and recommendations
  • Conduct outreach to influencers, bloggers, and media outlets to secure coverage
  • Coordinate with module leads to promote featured content (intern spotlights, running club profiles, museum exhibitions, board member interviews)
  • Support event promotion for virtual conferences, webinars, and online exhibitions
  • Optimize website content for search engines (SEO) and social sharing
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry trends in sustainability and social impact marketing

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's degree program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills with ability to adapt tone for different audiences
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics
  • Creativity and ability to generate engaging content ideas
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
  • Commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global social impact
     

Preferred:

  • Experience managing social media accounts for organizations or brands
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot)
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and Google Analytics
  • Video editing skills (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, or similar)
  • Photography skills and experience with photo editing software
  • Multilingual skills (especially Spanish, French, Arabic, Mandarin, or other UN languages)
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit outreach
  • Familiarity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global development issues

 

Position Details

Location Type: Remote (work from anywhere)
Schedule: Part-time (15-20 hours per week, flexible scheduling)
Duration: 12 weeks (with possibility of extension based on performance and funding)
Start Date: Flexible (rolling admissions with cohort start dates in February, May, and August 2026)
Compensation: Unpaid internship with professional development benefits and academic credit on your college transcript (subject to university approval)

 

Time Commitment Breakdown:

  • Social media content creation and scheduling: 6-8 hours/week
  • Email marketing and blog writing: 3-4 hours/week
  • Community engagement and outreach: 2-3 hours/week
  • Analytics and reporting: 2-3 hours/week
  • Team meetings and collaboration: 2 hours/week
