About the Practice:
FGMC’s Government Affairs group engages in advocacy and strategic representation at the local, state, and federal levels. Our services include direct lobbying and advocacy, government relations, political campaigns, legislative tracking and analysis, relationship management with stakeholders, and project management across complex jurisdictions.
Job Description:
- Assist the Government Affairs team in monitoring pending legislation, regulatory developments, and political trends relevant to clients.
- Conduct research on bills, policy proposals, legislative history, and stakeholder positions.
- Help prepare briefings, memos, or summaries for the team and for client use.
- Support the development and organization of stakeholder and legislator outreach, including maintaining contact lists and tracking communications.
- Aid in coalition-building efforts: help organize materials, assist in event planning or virtual briefings, and track coalition partners.
- Assist with project-management tasks: tracking deadlines, coordinating with multiple jurisdictions or agencies, and maintaining project timelines.
- Participate in internal team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and support the Government Affairs team’s strategic planning.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate students.
- Strong preference for prior experience working at the Colorado State Capitol (i.e. legislative aide/intern, lobbying associate, agency intern, etc.).
- Strong interest in government relations, public policy, legislative processes, and advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with both attorneys and policy professionals.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; research experience (legal, policy, or legislative) is a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Previous legislative aid experience is preferred.
Duration & Logistics
- Term: December 2025 – June 2026
- Part-time (e.g., 15–20 hours/week)
- Office-based in Cherry Creek in Denver, CO
- The pay for this internship is $25 per hour.
