Position Overview

 

Finance & Accounting Associate will be responsible for contributing to improving the finance and accounting processes and standards and helping to manage the complex nature of UI Charitable’s tax filings, as well as the filings for the nonprofit, University Impact. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely management of the daily activities related to contribution and grant transactions, expenses, and financial analysis planning and reporting.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Fiscal Sponsorships, General Field of Interest Funds and Community Fund relationships
  • Manage complex asset contributions and documentation
  • Update/edit/correct critical data in the system of record
  • Comfortable with donor care, ie. communicating with donors and nonprofits
  • Payroll
  • Tax and audit preparation
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Business performance reporting and analysis

The above list is not exhaustive; additional tasks may be assigned as necessary

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Administrative Skills: Proficient in office applications such as Google Workspace and QuickBooks and have experience using or the desire to learn to use other applications.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with finance and accounting.  Comfortable with financial tracking, budgeting, and reporting with a preference for those with experience using Quickbooks.
  • Communication Skills: This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as the associate will need to liaise with both internal teams and external programs.
  • Project Management Skills: The associate should be capable of handling multiple projects at once, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. This also includes the ability to coordinate and communicate with various project leaders.
  • Analytical Skills: The associate should be able to interpret data, draw conclusions, and present findings clearly and concisely.
  • Networking Skills: The ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to solve unforeseen problems quickly and effectively.
  • Desire to Learn: The associate should have a strong desire to learn and understand the ins and outs of the UI Charitable tools and programs and their role in achieving social impact.

Education and Experience:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience in accounting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
